Healing is not a process you easily stumble upon. For Shane Schauer, it’s been a life full of experiences combined with God’s continual grace. This story has culminated into Shane’s debut EP, “It’s Not Over”.
"It’s Not Over" represents the local church at her best. The album speaks a rare truth about healing and what it looks like to walk any journey connected to Jesus. The journey Shane and his family has taken not only inspired these lyrics, but is proof that what he sings about is real. Don’t just label this a worship album...these songs are stories of healing. And it has no shortage of familiar names involved. Produced by 5X Grammy-nominated, and Dove Award winning Keith Everette Smith, this record offers a breath of fresh air to the worship community. Songs were written by well-respected writers in Nashville including Krissy Nordhoff, Ethan Hulse, and more. Some of Shane’s favorite musicians played on the record like; James Duke, Mike Payne, Jason Richard, Kevin Rooney, Jacob Arnold and more.
Being the son of a worship pastor, the Fayetteville, AR native has been involved with music and ministry since he was a toddler. “I was probably playing drums on Sunday mornings before I could say a full sentence”, Shane says. His bloodline is rich with talented, experienced musicians and Shane didn’t run far from his roots when he became a full time worship pastor at the age of 20. He combined everything he experienced growing up with a divine calling from God. “I love that God called me to lead worship. I can’t imagine doing anything else”, he says.
In 2011, Shane married the love of his life, Chelsea, and they embarked on their ministry journey together, serving at several influential churches across the country. Currently serving as a worship pastor at Cross Church, pastored by Dr. Ronnie Floyd, Shane has made several partnerships throughout the years including the Southern Baptist Convention and Pastor’s Conference, The Lift Tour, Super Summer camps, and the Experience Conference in Orlando, FL, among others.
But what led Shane to the point of releasing “It’s Not Over” was not his experience. It was his story. After trying to conceive a child for four years, Shane and Chelsea found out that infertility had become a reality for them. This news began a long road of depression, anger, anxiety, and confusion. “There were many Sundays where I was angry at the same God I was encouraging other people to worship”, Shane says. After seeking counseling, and acknowledging a prompt from the Holy Spirit, Shane and Chelsea opened their hearts and homes to foster care. In a blog she wrote about their journey, Chelsea humorously said, “My heart was full of open wounds. So, we thought bringing two trauma kids into our home would fix those right up. We had open wounds. They had open wounds. And together, we were one big happy family!” Two years after fostering the first kids that were placed in their home, Liam and Bexley
became Schauers forever.
Shane and Chelsea's journey of spiritual and emotional healing, and now their hearts for adoption are what led Shane to begin writing for his debut EP “It’s Not Over”, which released May 2nd, 2018. The EP will lead listeners into a place of confession, hope, and worship with the end-goal of breaking down walls and allowing God to invade every part of our lives. “It’s my desire that believers experience Christ through worship in a fresh, authentic, and biblical way, and I hope that passion shows through every part of my life.”
